This page tells about the Dons of Arizona, how they originated, their history, lots of good information about the Dons of Arizona.
The Dons Club is a group of men and women dedicated to preserving the legend
and lore of the Southwest. The name "Dons" acknowledges the Spanish influence in the
settlement of this part of the United States. The Club accomplishes its mission through
providing educational field trips for elementary school children; scholarships to
university students; and trips for adults who wish to learn and celebrate the old and new
wonders of this land.
The Dons is a non-profit civic organization, which was founded in 1931. There
are no salaried members in the organization. All Club members are simply volunteers
who delight in sharing their appreciation of this land with other people.

Day 1
We will depart Phoenix and Sun City to
start our journey West. After a mid-morning
refreshment break, we will continue to Palm
Springs for lunch* to tide us over until we reach
Long Beach.
There, we will check into the historic
Queen Mary, where we will lodge for three
nights of our trip. This grand vessel is rich with
tales of her role in World War II, her years of
entertaining the very wealthy on holiday and -
yes, indeed - the ghosts who are said to roam
her hallways! Tonight, you will dine on your
own in one of the restaurants aboard ship.
Day 2
We will begin our day with a guided
tour of the ship, peppered with anecdotes of
those who sailed her. We will see replicas of the
lavish staterooms and dining area as they were
when the Queen ruled the waters; we will see
how, later, those rooms were made over with
bunks and utilitarian fixtures to carry our
fighting men to their missions.
